More about bagasse

Bagasse is the fibre left after the juice is pressed from sugarcane. It is pulped and moulded under heat into plates, bowls and boxes that are smooth, light and off-white. It takes hot and cold food.

The range: plates 17, 23, 25 and 30 cm from €0.097; bowls 180, 250 and 360 ml from €0.061; menu trays with 3 or 6 compartments from €0.145; a 21 cm snack tray; takeaway containers 750 and 1000 ml from €0.18 with matching bagasse lids; clamshells 6x6, 8x8 and 9x9 (3 compartments) from €0.12. Prices per piece incl. VAT.

For plates and bowls, bagasse costs less per piece than palm leaf, which makes it the usual choice for takeaway, food trucks and canteens.
